Creating
Places for Wildlife is a series of courses that teaches you how
to attract a wide variety of wildlife to your backyard, to a schoolyard,
or to an area in your community. There are seven courses in the
series. Each course contains online presentations, downloadable
study guides, and recommended activities.

you about basic concepts that are used throughout the other courses.
You will learn about many different topics, such as the importance
of native plants.
- Providing

can provide food for wildlife species in your area.
-
Providing Water for Wildlife teaches you the

to provide it appropriately.
- Providing

If
you are interested in earning credits for completing National Wildlife
Federation courses, here's how it works:
- Go

own pace. You have 90 days to complete the online portion of the
courses and up to six months to complete the hands on learning
activities that you select.
- Contact

for credit. After you return your completed application, you will
be assigned a Mentor. The College will send you a study guide
that corresponds to the courses you have completed. The study
guide will have questions for you to consider that reflect what
you have learned in your courses.
- When
you are ready to discuss the questions in the study guide, contact
your Mentor at Harrison Middleton University. Your
Mentor will arrange a time for you to call a toll-free telephone
number to have a discussion with a faculty member about the course

Experiential
Learning Credit
If you are planning on applying your credit towards a degree or
certificate program, we recommend Experiential learning credit.
Harrison Middleton University facilitates entry or
reentry into the academic community for adult learners by recognizing
learning obtained by various non-traditional methods. Credit is
granted only for experiential learning and not for experience per
se. Such learning must be at the University-level and documented through
evaluation by Harrison Middleton University with adequate
verification and supervision by qualified faculty.
Two
(2) Experiential Learning credits will be awarded for the National
Wildlife Federation’s “Creating Places for Wildlife”
series. Students planning to transfer their experiential learning
credit from Harrison Middleton University to another
academic institution are advised to contact the Admissions Office
at that institution to check on their transfer policies and acceptability
of credits for that institution. You will be responsible for selecting
the option that is right for you.
Service
Learning Credit
This type of credit is recommended for high school students or people
not interested in applying credit towards a degree. Service learning
credit is a credit bearing educational experience that requires
students to participate in an organized service activity that meets
identified community needs. Students reflect on their service activity
through writing, discussion, and reading to gain further understanding
of course content, broaden their appreciation of the discipline,
and enhance their sense of civic responsibility.
